ASU Gender and Socialization Theory Sociology Essay

For this portion of the Course Project, you are asked to demonstrate your sociological knowledge by applying and synthesizing a minimum offive sociological concepts and at least onesociological theory.

Specifically, examine your topic and consider the contemporary social conditions related to family: what are the social, political, or economic forces that contribute to or influence this issue?  Next, consider which sociological theory has the most explanatory power in helping explain what’s happening.  See the rubric below for depth of analysis I am looking for.

Topic: 

• Observe mothers and fathers with their small children (minimum of three families, one hour observations for each ).  Note your observations and write a conclusion about the effect that parents have on the sex roles that their children internalize. Report your findings to the class.
