PSYC 354 Excel Homework 1 & Data Set 1: (35 pts possible) The objective of your first Excel assignment is to learn to enter data in a worksheet and become familiar with the basic functions of Microsoft Excel. First, be sure you view the presentations for this week, found in the Reading & Study folder for Module/Week 1. These presentations provide information and go through the steps you will need to be familiar with in order to complete this assignment. Below, you will find a basic table of different types of raw data for each of 8 imaginary college students (abbreviated “St.”) who are enrolled in an introductory psychology course. You will use the data in this table to complete your first Excel homework assignment. After reviewing the table, open a blank workbook in Microsoft Excel on your computer and follow the instructions found after the data set below. Remember that you can resize the width of your columns if necessary. Practice using a formula: Using one of the methods covered in the presentation, record the sum of the variable “Times Visited Advising Office” at the bottom of its respective column. After you have finished this step, the formula should show up in the Formula Bar when you click on the cell that contains the sum. Save the completed file to your computer as “yourname_Excel1.xls”.
