How good is your sense of observation?

PROJECT: Choose a spot that interests you. A space that might be inspiring to you or attracts you for whatever reasons. (Landscapes are discouraged – try instead to choose something more personal or an enclosed setting.) Then try to narrow your point of view down to one that would be closer to a film/video frame. Stay there for some time and observe. Then, from your vantage point DESCRIBE in great details what is going on in this “view.” Remember that it takes imagination to observe. Do not limit yourself to the most obvious things but spend a little more time to explore what they really are. Pay attention to textures and light as we often overlook how they actually affect ways in which objects appear to your eyes. You can eventually include in your description some of what is going through your mind while being there. You can also think about how what you see affects you or is connected to you. Conclude by telling us what you feel from the experience. AIM OF PROJECT: 1. Learning to pay attention to details: peculiarity of situations, motion, texture, shapes and color. Also nature of materials, mood. 2. Learning to access how your own state of mind colors the way you see things: memories, cultural background, habits, inclination. 3.
