For this task, prepare a paper in which you describe an interaction with someone who shared your cultural background and with someone who did not. Describe the feeling that made you feel connected. Did anything make you feel unconnected?

First, describe a situation in which you felt a connection with someone who shared your own cultural background.   Describe that feeling. What made you feel connected to that person? Did anything make you feel unable to connect to that person in any way?

Next, think of someone you know or have met who is from a culture completely different from your own. Recall your first interaction with that person.  Explain the setting and the interaction. Did you view it as a positive or negative interaction at the time? In what ways has that first experience with someone who is “other” dictated how you now approach people who are of a different culture?

Relate your reflections on each experience to your readings in the text.

Length: 1-2 pages

Your paper should demonstrate thoughtful consideration of the ideas and concepts presented in the course by providing new thoughts and insights relating directly to this topic. Your response should reflect scholarly writing and current APA standards. Be sure to adhere to Northcentral University’s Academic Integrity Policy.
